Mike Vesty, the proprietor, has kept bees for thirty years. Back problems provided the impetus for the development of the Drawhive and such was it’s success, several were built for other local beekeepers.
Details of the Drawhive spread by word of mouth and enquiries were received from further afield. It was then decided to offer the Drawhive more widely and they have since been supplied to beekeepers around the UK and Channel Isles.
It is hoped that by making beekeeping easier, the craft becomes a viable activity for the disabled and attracts those who may be put off by regular heavy lifting.
